Sun Hills is Colorado. Set on the plateau across I-25 from The United States Air Force Academy, tucked behind Gleneagle, and over the ridge concealed from Discovery Canyon Campus and Flying Horse, Sun Hills stretches out on around 1000 acres of rolling hillside with creek drainages, forested hillsides and the most impressive views of Pikes Peak and the Front Range in El Paso County
The magic of Sun Hills is the fact that it represents the scarce:
- D20 Schools
- Killer Views
- A superior value-to-quality ratio
Completely re-imagined in 2014 with the benefit of Darin Brooks, owner of Brooks Brother Cabinetry in nearby Monument, the kitchen was gutted from top to bottom and reimagined in the farm house tradition. Cambria “Windermere” Quartz Counters, Decora cabinetry with soft-close drawers and Blum hinges, and stainless Kitchen-Aid appliances serve today’s lifestyle.
The five-burner gas cook top can accomplish the mission at hand fast (pasta) or slow (that rich reduction you never dared). Crown moldings grace the cabinet uppers. Stunning contrast amplifies the natural light between the Chantilly white upper cabinets and the Walnut-hued center island.
Views are everywhere. The oversized Pella windows fill the home with the sun’s warmth, whether at the eating nook or over the farm house sink. Blue Jean comfort is just steps away. The dining nook readily seats six adults (or a family of eight) and across the hardwood flooring is access to the back deck with 8′ doors.
The folks at Brooks Brothers also enjoyed the privilege of reimagining the master bedrooms. Decora cabinetry with granite vanities, a deep, squared garden tub, and an elegant shower now complete the elegant master bath. More lovely sunlight fills the bath, but so too does the comfort of six acres of neighborly separation. Warming the toes on a frosty morning are thermostat-controlled radiantly heated floor tiles.
The walk-in closet has been maximized by a professionally-designed closet organizer. A shoe tower and enhanced shelving makes room for four seasons of wardrobe. An additional closet adds to the storage possibilities.
Large doesn’t begin to describe the volume of the room. With nine foot ceilings, a standard king-sized bed has multiple locations for placement.
Three hundred days of sunshine a year. A 70 degree day that gives way to tomorrow’s blizzard. Cool nights. Blue skies. Dappling clouds across the horizon. You can see Pikes Peak from a lot of El Paso County. But what’s terribly unusual is having the room to roam and enjoy all of the out of doors. Even though collectively we benefit from one of the best climates in the United States, we often are fenced in and contained.
Wide-Open Spaces looks like five acres. Wide-Open Spaces looks like a half acre already fenced in and irrigated. Wide-Open Spaces looks like a garden plot, a play area and a bonus patio. Wide-Open Spaces looks like a synthetic undermount-secured deck that’s covered. Wide-Open Spaces looks like not one, but two natural gas lines for your grill and fireplace.
Wide-Open Spaces looks like a bonus shed for your tractor. A cattle gate for your kin. A rustic, friendly-weathered greeting to the world’s arrival at your door. Wide-Open Spaces looks like Pikes Peak at dawn. Pikes Peak at sun’s set. Wide-Open Spaces. Your Room to Breathe.
