El Poblano Mobile is what to do when you can’t find Pig Latin’s taco truck where you expected them to be. This fits under the category of Taco Truck or Food Truck, with the exception that it’s a stationary school bus parked across the street from the Enterprise Car Rental by the Citadel Mall.
In short, some of the best tacos in town, especially if the idea of Ranch Foods ingredients smacks you as pretentious and inauthentic. Or if you’re a Yelping diehard and need points and props for your profile. Additionally the value here is hard to beat. Real deal tacos at real deal prices.
What to get here is really based on your preferences. They do good tortas which are not easy to find in Colorado Springs, and the chicken tacos are excellent. A decent number of sauce options to add as well. But this is the place if you’re into the offal-offerings common to SoCal tacos trucks in, such as tripe, or the delicacy Tacos de Cachete (cheek meet barbacoa). One slightly misleading thing about the place from my personal experience is that as a fan of poblano chiles, they don’t make much of an appearance on the menu. I may not be hunting as thoroughly as I can because the smell of “chicken tacos” generally gets my unwavering attention at the lunch hour.
Dining is at an outdoor table, inside the bus, or to go. Frank Frey gets the credit for the initial recommendation.
